Laura Bloom, M.S.W., R.S.W.: Counselling, Health Advocacy, and Social Work Services

 

Laura Bloom provides counselling and social work services for individuals and families with acute, chronic and/or traumatic medical events. In particular, she is specialized in working with people with neurological and neurosurgical conditions; such as, stroke, aneurysm, traumatic or acquired brain injuries, arteriovenous malformations, brain tumours, Parkinson’s disease and dementia.

She has a wealth of experience with health adjustment, trauma counselling, navigating the health care system, the barriers individuals and families face, and the community supports and resources available.

Using a holistic and client-centered approach, she provides counselling to individuals and families with various challenges associated with health adjustment (i.e. grief, anger, anxiety, depression, addictions, etc). She provides assistance with advanced care planning, navigation through the health care system, client advocacy, and referrals to community resources.

Laura is a skilled social worker, with a decade worth of experience in the health care field. She is a Master’s level social worker, registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She is also trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
