Jordan Topp MSW, RSW, LLB, AccFM

Jordan is a family mediator specializing in parenting, custody and access. She is passionate about supporting people through loss and life transitions, and has seen how transformative hard times can be. Jordan teaches mindfulness meditation to individuals and groups, and considers it a powerful support as we go through life’s challenges and difficulties.

Family Mediation

Jordan mediates a variety of family-related issues, including separation, divorce, parenting plans and child support. Jordan has a parenting- and child-centered approach to her mediation practice. All decision-making considers the best interests of the child and the long-term well-being of the family unit.

Separation and Parenting Support:

If you are going through separation or divorce, Jordan will support and work with you through both the practical and emotional challenges. This includes planning and coaching, as well as supportive counselling and mindfulness meditation training. By addressing all aspects of the experience, we will create the space for you to stay present for your children, work and the rest of life. With experience as a child-focused family mediator, Jordan will support you in preparing your children for the separation and meeting their needs throughout the process. Jordan’s approach is resilience-based and emphasizes best practices based on the age and developmental stage of your child.

Grief Counselling:

While death, loss and transitions are a normal part of life, they often leave us feeling alone, unsupported, and struggling to make meaning. Jordan offers compassion and presence to those going through a major loss.  Jordan provides support to those struggling with the death of a family member or friend, infertility, stillbirth and miscarriage, or a non-death loss (separation/divorce, illness, aging).

Mindfulness Meditation:

Going through loss and major life transitions challenges us to our core. We often become more reactive and less present when our personal and emotional resources are strained. Mindfulness meditation offers a unique gift, enabling us to find strength and the ability to grow, even in trying times. It gives us the space to appreciate our lives and loved ones. By being with what is alive in us — grief, anger, sadness, fear — we can heal and grow our resilience.

Jordan teaches one-on-one mindfulness meditation practice and leads regular mindfulness meditation groups for those going through major life transitions, including loss, separation and divorce, aging, illness, infertility and parenthood.
